IMPROVEMENT OF KNOWLEDGE OF LOGIC APPLIED IN ENGINEERING

Logic is an essential and versatile tool to several fields, capable of instructing the formulation of new ideas, mathematical structure, writing cohesive reports, to structure reasoning, to generate hypotheses, and more. Despite its scope and significant contributions, logic as well as its segments, relates very little to civil engineering in terms of a tool for solving problems. Due to this, the paper presents an analysis of the inductive and deductive logic in technological research with applicability to engineering. In order to highlight how that logic can be directed so that engineers would be able to reason more efficiently, contributing to the improvement of required complex problem solving methods faced in this field. The methodology used was the explanatory approach and a review of the specialized literature. The results show that applying logic to engineering is essential to make decisions, develop creative processes and solve problems.
