Abstract

This article describes the creation of a preliminary educational computational library in PythonSCAD to automate the drawing, analysis, and visualization of planar trusses. The study emphasizes the importance of combining OpenSCAD’s graphical capabilities with the flexibility of Python programming, thereby overcoming the former’s numerical limitations. The methodology includes algorithms for the automatic generation of truss geometry, application of loads and boundary conditions, and solution of the nodal equilibrium equations system using the Gaussian elimination method. A computational library specifically designed for Warren-type trusses is then developed and made available to the public, allowing the drawing and calculation of internal forces through simple lines of code. At the end of the article, three examples are presented for the numerical validation of the library
