OUTREACH PROJECT "CLEAN WATER FROM SOURCE TO TREATMENT": ECOLOGICAL AWARENESS APPLIED BY THE ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING COURSE

Abstract

The Clean Water Project was developed with the aim of disseminating knowledge and raising awareness about the preservation of water resources and sustainable practices in schools and communities of São José dos Campos-SP. By integrating the academic community with society, the project carried out interdisciplinary educational activities in collaboration with public institutions, academic projects, and university laboratories. The actions addressed topics such as water bodies' pollution and conservation, soil and air, sustainability, water treatment, and recycling practices, using dynamic methodologies to create a significant impact on the students involved. This article details the activities, partnerships, and educational strategies adopted, as well as discusses the positive impact observed on participants' behavior and knowledge. The inclusion of practical lessons, such as laboratory experiments and model building, brought students closer to the university environment, fostering a formative experience and promoting public universities among young people. The results indicate that environmental education can be a powerful tool to develop conscious and engaged citizens in environmental preservation.
